Microsoft released Xbox 360 six years from now and since then consumers have been anxiously waiting for the sequel to this highly successful gaming console. We have been hearing so many speculations and reports about the features that will be added or removed from the next gen Xbox. It is expected that Microsoft will name the next gen Xbox as the Xbox 720.
Blu-ray Drive & Kinect
Today, we have heard a report from a UK based magazine that covers everything Xbox, and the report suggests that the next gen Xbox or the Xbox 720 will be coming with a Blu-ray drive and it will also feature Kinect 2.0. The magazine suggests that according to their insider at Microsoft, Xbox 720 will feature this Blu-ray drive along with a A/V port that will allow users to watch and record broadcast TV on the discs or in the hard drive of the Xbox.
Six years ago, when Microsoft was about to release the Xbox 360, the company did not choose Blu-ray, instead they went with HD DVD technology. Now, HD DVD is not supported natively and the users had to buy a separate drive to watch HD DVD movies on the Xbox. Now, HD DVD has failed just like Betamax and VHS, and currently Blu-ray technology is ruling the media. In addition to that, Sony has already implemented the Blu-ray technology by offering it in its PlayStation 3 which is one of the strongest rivals of Xbox at the moment. At the moment, PS3 really has a upper hand over Xbox 360 due to the Blu-ray drive it features.
Some Extra Features Might Be Included
Now, when we talk about the Kinect 2.0 which is also expected to be introduced in the next gen Xbox 720, there are not much details about the next version of Kinect at the moment. It means that Microsoft is keeping everything quiet about the Kinect 2.0 right now but according to some leaked information we have found out that the Kinect 2.0 might be featuring new features like updated motion sensing peripheral. The leaks also suggest that the motion sensing will be more accurate this time and it will offer stereo imaging, upgraded voice recognition service and it will also be able to track up to four people at once which might be very wonderful.
The original Kinect was a revolutionary product and it also became one of the most and fastest selling gadget of all time. And if our reports are somewhat correct, we think that Xbox 720 along with Kinect 2.0 are going to be amazing and treat for the hardcore gamers.
