We all know that Apple just released the iPad 4 only a few months after the release of the iPad 3 earlier this year. So, all those iPad 3 owners are really frustrated about this quick update as they were hoping their iPad to be the latest for at least a year. Today, Microsoft has announced that they will be supporting their Surface RT tablets for over four and half year.
It means that all those who are buying or will be buying the Microsoft Surface RT Tablet, will be able to receive updates and support from Microsoft for over four years from now. The company has announced that it will end the support to the Surface RT tablet on April 11th, 2017 which is pretty amazing in our opinion.
Apple will not drag iPad 3 too far
Of course older devices like iPad 3 will also be getting updates from Apple in the near future but we don’t think that Apple will drag it too far to 2017, and 2015 might be the end of the line for the iPad 3. But if you purchase the new Microsoft Surface tablet, you will have to never worry about your device getting outdated because it will be getting support and software updates from the company for around half a decade which is really a long time.
We all know that a high percentage of the consumers wish to hold on to their smartphone and tablet devices for a few years instead of a few months. Of course so many people would like to get the latest gadget in their hands but still not anyone can afford a new tablet every year. In the recent times, big companies like Apple, Samsung, Google are bringing latest devices even after months which makes the customers a little confused because they were just getting hang of their previous devices.
5 years support for all business products
Microsoft has aimed its tablet devices mainly towards the business consumers and usually Microsoft offers five years of support on all their business products. So, when we think about that, Microsoft has just decreased the support period for the business devices but it might also mean that Microsoft don’t think that they will be needing these devices after that long. According to some analysts, it is possible that Microsoft will bring new Surface tablets every year to stay in the market and compete with other leading tablets like Apple iPad.
