Samsung expect to go past the 30 million sales barrier for their flagship phone, Galaxy S3, by the end of this year, according to a statement given by JK Shin, IT and mobile unit chief, to Yonhap News Agency. The prediction was made at the company’s Seoul office where Shin Jong-Kyun briefed the reporters. In July, Samsung publicised that the Galaxy S III had reached 10 million sales, less than two months after its inauguration. This equated to approximately 190,000 sales daily of the Android-powered smartphone. The latest projection comes just days after the South Korea-based electronics giant proclaimed that it has already sold 20 million Galaxy S III units in just over three months making it easily the company’s best-selling smartphone till date.
Many iPhone Fans Have Already Bought Galaxy S3
The claim made by Samsung is bullish indeed since it has the latest edition of Apple’s iPhone, revealed as iPhone 5 today, to compete with now in the final quarter of the year. During its first four months in the market, a dated iPhone 4S was the only major rival for the S3 in the smartphone market but many of the potential iPhone 5 buyers have already bought the Android based S3 rather than to wait for the iPhone. The statement is morale boosting for the Samsung faithful keeping into account the recent failure of the company in the patent infringement battle in the US courts.
Samsung Can Reach 30M Mark
The goals set by Samsung for their sales may apparently be lofty but if their smartphones continue to soar off the store shelves at the same rate, nobody would bet against Samsung reaching those targets. Nonetheless, the competition will be stronger from Apple and also the Nokia Lumia that has started to get rave reviews. It does appear that Shin’s comments are logical as Samsung has more than three months to accomplish their aim and they are heading in the right direction.
