Rumors about a super slim version of the PlayStation 3 have been all but officially confirmed after a retailer tease of the console was spotted this Monday. The story was published on a Polish website, Polygamia.pl who themselves discovered the unintentional leak in a promotional newsletter for Media Expert, an electronics store chain based in Poland. Besides the picture of the new model displayed just below, the promo also features a September 28th release date. Speculation about the device started when in July this year, the Brazilian equivalent of the FCC listed three models of the Super Slim that were to be released.
Two Different Versions
The new PS3 will arrive in two different versions; a 12GB SSD version for 199 euros and a 500GB model that will cost 299 euros according to the Polish website story. The listed prices approximately amount to $250 for 12GB version and $400 for the 500GB version but conversions are not usually straightforward due to marketing reasons.
Sony Has Faith in PS3 Technology
Sources Sony has scheduled a press conference at the Tokyo Game Show on Wednesday, 26th September when most probably, an official announcement will be made concerning the latest model of the hugely popular console. The release will further indicate that Sony are not backing off the ten year life span they had given to PS3 the time it was released and still have enormous faith in the machine’s technology. They are happy to bide their time in Japan while Nintendo release the Wii U and Microsoft step up efforts to bring in the Xbox 720.
