A couple of months of Apple launched the latest iPhone 5 and along with it iOS 6 was also released. iOS 6 brought various new features that are very appreciated by the users but it also came with certain flaws. Apple proudly released its own Maps app that replaced the Google Maps in the iOS 6 but it was a total disaster.

The maps app in iOS 6 really disappointed so many users and it was a shame that a very well polished platform brought such bad navigation application. Of course that is the reason why Apple CEO Tim Cook had to apologize from the users and suggested them to find alternative solutions for navigation.

So, after that letter from Tim Cook, all the Apple rivaling companies have a chance to get their navigation apps cash in the opportunity. Currently, we are waiting for Apple to reinstate the Google Maps as the default navigation app in the iOS in a possible future update. But today, Nokia has brought its own app today which will really heat up the competition.

Nokia’s own navigation app for Android & iOS

Today, Nokia has announced its own navigation app called HERE, and it will be supported by both iOS and Android as well. In addition to that, Nokia HERE app will be free of charge soon it will be released on both iTunes app store and Android Google Play store. Nokia has described its new HERE app as the first location cloud which will be capable of delivering the best maps of world across various platforms.

We don’t know exactly when Nokia is planning on releasing the HERE maps app for either of the platforms. By now we have only heard that this app will indeed bring so many new features that users will be able to enjoy. The long list of useful features will also include offline capabilities; voice guided navigation as well as public transport directions. So, all these amazing features will be coming just for free, its like a dream come true for so many users all around the world. We really think that this new service from Nokia has a potential to be a success and we are looking forward to it with open minds.
