Thus far, there have been no official statements from Nintendo concerning the release date and the price of Wii U but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from chucking out stories. Wii U is most likely to be the first out on the shelves as compared to its next generation competitors from the gaming consoles arena. With PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 not expected for another year or so, Wii U will have plenty of time to make inroads into the market if it is loaded with firepower. The first significant rumor regarding the launch has come out past Tuesday from Video Product Distributors, a wholesale media distribution company that deals with the likes of Amazon, Newegg and Blockbuster.

Release Date & Price

VDP say that the Nintendo Wii U is expected to be released on November 11th which is a week earlier than the date predicted previously. Besides the date, they also announced the availability of three Wii U bundles listed at fascinating prices. The listings that were displayed on VDP’s website are shown below,

As visible, the basic package is priced at $249.99 while the high end bundle is valued at $349.99, however, no detailed description about the bundles is given. The news has been supported by a video, now removed from Youtube, showing the Wii U product listings and pricings. A screenshot has also been made available showing the same listing’s on the VPD website. Nevertheless, not much can be drawn from these rumours as Nintendo themselves have kept quiet. A lot has been speculated about the bundles with CNET Editor, Scott Stein, suggesting that the basic bundle is priced right on and could feature the console with a bundled tablet and a copy of Nintendoland while the expensive bundles may include an addition tablet and remotes. Not all agree with that as Dan Ackerman, another CNET Editor, believes that Nintendo cannot just charge another $50 for a remote.
