Water damage to electronic devices

If you have dropped your iPhone in water, best thing to do is immediately turn the device off and keep it off until you get it to a repair centre to get treated for liquid ingress,
If you follow these instructions you have around 90% chance your iPhone will be recoverable. The longer you leave it the less the percentage gets and the more times you try turning it on or charging it is radically reducing your chances of recovery.
Without out going into to much techno info below is a picture of an iPhone 4 which was water damaged by rain water, the guy tried multiple times to turn it on and charge it

As you can see this is quite a severe case of water damaged, this was caused by multiple attempts at powering on and charging , if you have not tried powering on or charging I would not expect to see the half of this corrosion,
When we get a motherboard like this what we do is treat it for water damage first to see if there is any long term damage done , after it’s Been treated with our latest technology equipment it will look like this

Now you can see how effective the cleaning system can be, if the corrosion has eaten any of the pads of the board this is where it may become unrepairable, the example above was recoverable after reflowing the power ic in the picture and is now back in use.
