Not long ago Microsoft launched its Windows RT powered Surface tablet but it seems like it was unable to make the desired impact in the market and that is why Microsoft was forced to use its contingency plan to increase the faith of the users in the Surface brand. Microsoft has now announced the pricing detail and the release date of the second important model of Surface tablet that comes with Windows 8 Pro. Surface RT ran on Windows 8 RT but the Surface Pro will be coming with Windows 8 Pro which will offer much better user experience. Users will be able to enjoy unlimited apps on the Surface Pro tablet because it will not bound them to choose from the low numbered apps available at the Windows Store just like Windows RT does.

Release & Price

So, Microsoft has announced that their Surface Pro tablet will hit the shelves in January 2013 and the tablet will come in two flavors based on the storage capacity, one with 64GB storage and the other one with 128GB. The basic model with 64GB storage will come with a price tag of $899 on the other hand the one with 128GB internal storage will cost $999. Well, these are the prices but Surface Pro will be able to run all the Legacy apps and has so many other uses as well, which means that we will be using one of those new keyboard covers as well. Both covers offer fully functional keyboard one has the touch based keys and it is slicker than the other one and it also does not offer any feedback when pressing the keys.

Surface RT not going so well

Recently, we have been receiving various news that suggest that Surface RT is struggling in the market and sales are not that well even only a month after the release. So, it seems like Microsoft has made a right decision to announce the pricing and release date of the Surface Pro tablet to maintain the level of interest of the consumers. According to Steve Ballmer, sales figures of the Surface RT tablet are modest and according to various reports Microsoft had to cut down orders of the Surface RT to half only one month after the launch.

So, it means that Microsoft has tried to take help from its Surface Pro tablet which really has a potential to deflect negativity away from the Surface brand. Surface Pro will be featuring Core i5 processor along with 1920 x 1080 pixel full HD display and full sized USB 3.0 port. Of course Surface Pro can be used as a complete PC and it will really boost up sales for Microsoft.
