There were theories that the verdict of the Apple – Samsung courtroom battle, over patent infringements, will throw the HTC Corporation into a pandemonium but these claims have been proven false by the Taiwanese company. Apple filed for similar infringements against HTC in the International Trade Commission and two of the claims were also present in the case against Samsung Electronics. The commission had previously ordered both the firms to reach a settlement outside the courts but it seems that both the firms do not want to have it this way. HTC headquarters firmly believe that the defeat of Samsung does not mean the defeat of all the Android based device manufacturers despite depreciation of their shares.
HTC is Confident & Ready to Sell Windows Phones!
According to the reports from Taipei, HTC bosses have strong confidence in their research and development teams to hold off the Apple patent claims. Even if Apple wins another legal battle, they have faith in their ability to introduce new software designs. They also have a guide of ‘what not to do’ from the recent fiasco involving the other two giants. If HTC are penalized monetarily also, they can come to grips with it through their anticipated Windows Phone 8 handsets. The prices of Android phones may increase due to the loss and could lead to greater sales of the Windows based phones which will help HTC no doubt. They will also have less patent conflicting battles with the Apple iPhones.
Is Samsung’s Defeat an Opportunity for HTC?
It seems that in the near future HTC will have to come up with innovative ideas. Paying licensing fee to Apple would render them unable to compete in terms of prices. Google, meanwhile, has come out in support of the Android platform by saying that verdict does not have an impact across the board thereby boosting HTC. Samsung’s loss may actually turn out fruitful for HTC as Samsung’ products could be banned in the United States allowing HTC to increase its market share. HTC is aiming to bring out three new devices into the market soon – all in its flagship range hoping to stranglehold the market share from Samsung. All in all, if HTC can learn from Samsung’s experience, they can not only determine a way out of this mess but also better their market position in the long run.
