When we talk about the tablet devices, Apple’s iPad comes in our mind first because it was the only tablet device that revolutionized the entire tablet industry when it was released back in 2010. Of course since its origin, iPad has been the leader of the tablet market and since now it did not face any equal competitor. Well, it seems like the times are changing now and the Apple iPad is now losing some of its dominance over the Android powered tablets. In the last three years, Apple has released four iPad models while other companies have been bringing their own tablets to compete with iPad. In the latest reports, it seems like Android tablets are now gaining some of the market share dominance and iPad is losing which is a first.

Statistics are saying it all

A research firm named as ABI Research has released some data results that suggest that in the third quarter of 2012, Apple iPad only sold 55% of the total tablets. Of course Apple iPad is still dominant, as all the tablets from other brands were able to sell only 45% combine but you also need to keep in mind that sales of Apple iPad have dropped by 14% from the last quarter. In addition to that, at this time Apple iPad’s sales are at the lowest level since the launch of the original iPad back in 2010.

Of course we don’t think that it is an alarming situation for Apple, as their iPad is still on the top but still these new figures suggest that the Android powered tablets from other manufacturers are getting more popularity among the users now. New tablets like Nexus 10, Nexus 7 and the Amazon Kindle Fire HD are really getting attention from a lot of users and it seems like many previous iPad users are also shifting to Android for some reasons.

Well, in 2012 Apple introduced two new iPad models iPad 3 and iPad 4 which really frustrated various users who bought iPad 3 and their device got outdated only in a few months. Of course Apple’s new iPad Mini will be able to sell very well and get some attention from the users but it will only compete with the mid range level Android tablets.

We are really interested to see that how iPad Mini will fare against the popular 7 inch Android tablets. Of course the time will tell and we will get to know all that when official sales figures will be released from the manufacturer.
